Series 1 : Pre Op Assessment Shoulder Arthroplasty

  • Know about the complex structures of the shoulder joint which includes ACJ, SCJ, Scapulothoracic joint, glenohumeral muscles to give the basic framework.
  • Understand the physiological and functional biomechanics of shoulder joint: range of motion and stability systems and movements in order to appreciate and apply the principles of shoulder joint injuries, rehabilitation, and prevention.

Series 2 : Shoulder arthroplasty Surgical Approaches

  • Assess pre-operative planning in patients to be operated by shoulder arthroplasty through a structured review of the patient files including history and physical examination as well as imaging studies to determine their suitability for the operation and identify possible contributing risk factors

 

  • Distinguish the differences between various types of shoulder arthroplasties: total shoulder arthroplasty, hemiarthroplasty and reverse shoulder arthroplasty, with knowledge in indications, surgical techniques, expected outcome and possible complications of each procedure in order to a personalised decision-making and planning during management of patients in clinical settings.

Series 3: Protocol of Shoulder Arthroplasty Rehabilitation Programme

  • Design highly individualized multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programs and procedures for patients who undergo shoulder arthroplasty based on principles of exercise prescription, manual therapy and functional training to achieve best possible results for better shoulder function and improved patients’ satisfaction.

 

  • Demonstrate by using the principles of the individual patient Rehabilitation for a patient who has undergone the shoulder arthroplasty procedure with evaluation of the pre-operation status, post-operation factors, goal setting as well as the progress tracking to create a rehabilitation program/ plan that meets the needs of the individual patient and achieve the best functional recovery.
